STAiNED

For this publication project, I created a concept for a monthly newspaper called STAiNED; dedicated to celebrating the most influential albums in rock history and American culture. Each issue explores one monumental record in depth, combining historical context and contemporary analysis.

This first edition focuses on An American Prayer by The Doors—a posthumous album that sets Jim Morrison’s spoken-word poetry to music. Design-wise, the purpose of this project was to reference the tactile experience of listening to vinyl. While the newspaper includes features like commentary, background, and reception after release, the newspaper also mirrors elements of vinyl records; from full album artwork, a lyric sheet, and behind-the-scenes photos from the original recording.

The design borrows from the vintage print aesthetics of mid-20th century counterculture—with gritty textures and bold type—this newspaper pays homage to the energy of 60s/70s rock zeitgeist and the physicality of the vinyl format.
